Released in early 2009, the High Definition System (HDS) from Lowrance provides a range of LCD and colour fishfinders, GPS Mapping units and Radars that are second to none.
The legendary Lowrance X-series lives on this next-generation advancement in echosounding for the serious and professional angler. The first in the new HDS (High definition System) range its exceptionally enhanced features and performance are precisely revealed on a high definition 5" (127mm) 480 X 480 pixel colour display with adjustable screen and keypad backlighting. Best of all, Lowrance Broadband Sounder is now built in. So you can find more fish with greater sensitivity, higher definition, more display clarity, much less clutter and the best seperation of fish from cover ever achieved by Lowrance.
Operating with a masive 250 watts the unit is available with either a 50/200 kHz or 83/200 kHz transducer giving you a maximum depth of up to 1500m. The unit is sealed and waterproof, is NMEA 0183, 2000 and Ethernet compatable for data sharing to other Lowrance products. It has a choice of over 23 languages, alarms for fish, battery voltage, shallow and deep water, split screen with multiple zoom levels, programmable overlay data, resizeable display window and fish symbol ID. Water temperature is also standard. |

The HDS-5 sounder/GPS Chartplotter has all the same fishfinding features as the HDS5x above however it also has a built in 16 Channel GPS antenna and an SD card slot for cartography and recording sounder and navigation data. With a waterproof 5" (127mm) screen the HDS-5 is NMEA 0183, 2000 and Ethernet compatibile. Plug in the optional Lowrance LRA-1800 or LRA-2400 raydome to give you up to 48 nautical miles of radar scan.
The 16 channel GPS can store up to 5000 waypoints, 200 routes, 10 trails up to 12,000 points each and has specific icons for navigation and fishing. It also has a man overboard feature and several GPS alarms for alert of both waypoint arrival and anchor drift. For installations where the GPS signal may be restricted, such as a fibreglass hardtop, a 5hZ external GPS antenna is available.
